Over the past few years, our community mental health teams in primary care have formed and developed.
As the first, most accessible contact for patients, these teams are working with a range of individuals with severe mental conditions and complex trauma. In the HIOW we are committed to investing in our workforce, so that, not only better outcomes can be achieved for patients, but that we are able to equip our mental health community workforce with the skills and knowledge required to work with trauma and complexity.
Furthermore, we wanted to extend the training and support to all primary care workforce, form GP-s to receptionist, as working in a trauma informed way should be everyone’s business.
The Rockpool model provided the opportunity to deliver the training and support at various levels and also provided a solution in delivering ongoing awareness and forming a community of trauma informed practitioners.
