This enhanced webinar builds on our introductory session to explore coercion and control in greater depth — moving beyond awareness into understanding, assessment and response.

This extended session takes a trauma-informed approach to explore the psychological, behavioural and cognitive impact of coercive and controlling behaviour.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how individuals adapt to survive abuse, why coercion and control can remain hidden, and how to recognise and assess it more effectively in your work.

The session also introduces practical tools, including the Coercion and Control Enquiry (CACE) form, to support more confident and informed assessment.

In this session, we’ll explore:

  • Key statistics and legislation surrounding coercion and control
  • Survival strategies through a trauma-informed lens
  • Physiological responses to trauma (the “5 F’s”)
  • Cognitive responses, including changes in thinking and cognitive dissonance
  • The psychological impact of coercion and control
  • How and when to ask the right questions
  • Using the CACE (Coercion and Control Enquiry) form to support assessment

By the end of the session, you will:

  • Have a deeper understanding of the psychological impact of coercion and control
